elizebeth warren and elijah cummings released a proposal for a program

to alleviate opioid addiction. the program is $100B for a pretty comprehensive plan to help solve a serious problem.

i do not agree with her. $100B is obviously too much, even when compared to the cost of convicting and jailing the offenders.

opioid addiction is not my problem. why spend that money?

opioid addicts are criminals and should be locked up.

make these drugs less profitable. flood the market with cheap over the counter generics and let the addicts deal with their own burial expenses.

1. Easy to solve...

Government gives it out for free. 20% of the drugs should be lace with cyanide. The problem will be eliminated.

6. Im a proponent of legal drugs..

Of all types. I would prefer if people self govern. When they cant and people want government involved. You get problems. I dont want peoplento die but not a lot of good solutions.

9. I think you have a point there

Legalize theft and murder too. People will self-govern themselves and most of the deaths that result will be the guilty ones.

10. Difference...

Those are universal wrongs. Not things considered wrong by a subset of society.

12. Indeed...

Thise things that happen without the consent of the second party are universally unethical whereas those things you do to yourself or at least complicit with a second party and not the expense of a third party are only at times and by certain people as wrong.

13. Years ago, a friend gave me a copy of a book:

"Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do: The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in Our Free Country," by Peter McWilliams

It didn't change my thinking - I was pretty much already in general agreement - but it made an impression anyway.

15. Yeah, we've talked before.

It's probably fair to call me a "left libertarian," although I don't generally use that term to describe my views.

2. Opioid addiction is a choice, access to the drugs must be curtailed, not freedom of choice.

With the progression of feeding and protecting those that shouldn’t be, freedom of choice is of upmost importance to achieve nature’s balance.

4. No one forces you to become an addict

If you want to stop being an addict, that's on you.

7. Typical lefty BS, toss MORE money at a problem created by drug companies and those doctors who over-

-prescribe these drugs to anyone who claims to be in pain.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/macomb-county/2018/12/06/feds-allege-six-detroit-area-doctors-fueled-opioid-crisis-health-care-fraud-conspiracy/2225239002/

...start putting these greedy ''doctors'' down and the over-prescribing problem will resolve itself rather quickly. The drug companies can be handled, for starters, by making them provide Naloxone for FREE.............
