And lefty says a gun will do you no good....

I guarantee you this man and his wife are alive only because of owning a gun.

A Kentucky sheriff’s office has released video of a home invasion where the homeowner and one of the intruders exchanged gunfire.

Remember, as we’ve been confidently told by dozens of knowledgeable politicians, (so-called) personal defense experts, no one needs more than ten rounds of ammunition in a magazine.

2. Getting your @ss shot is a hazzard one must embrace with a life of crime.

Good shooting by the home owner.

3. when I lived in Detroit,

Even though I lived in a quiet neighborhood with hardly any violent crime/break enters, I kept a 12 gauge pump propped up next to the bed.
Luckily, never had to use it.
I live in a smaller city now, not much in the way of crime so now it's under the bed.
If they get by the dogs, they won't get by the Browning.

15. I'll admit

Ever since we lost the dog last week we've been a bit edgy now that we no longer have an alarm system.

17. We have a junkie/dealer just down the street

I'm ashamed to admit I am distantly related to. I'm really weary of all the people they tend to attract.

11. That an other factors all get into the mix

Short of SWAT level proficiency, most people double their group size in a bad situation.

12. Yup.

We really ought to try to qualify after getting our adrenaline up, but it's hard enough getting people to qualify on static targets.

Off topic, did you see my post about my youngest daughter graduating with her chemistry degree? Yeah, I'm a proud dad!

22. The ladies went to the Ruger 9MM carbines. with a lazor on top is is hard to beat.

They are practicing on stationary clay pigeons at 7 to 21 feet and seldom miss. During the cali opportunity week where high capacity mags were briefly legal to purchase again we found some 32 round mags that fit them perfectly.

We have the ability to shoot whenever we want but are now shooting more and having a lot of fun with the camp 9's.

Edit to get it right.

I have to amend this to get it right. One of the girls bought a marlin camp 9 but the weapons we have been having the most fun with are the ruger PC carbines.

23. I've got a Marlin 9mm carbine I bought about 30 years ago.

My wife and I were dating at the time. Haven't shot it in years, but I might have to break it out.

24. I didn't think much of either of them when it came in the door but it is a great house guns.

I can stand up a dozen clays for each of them and they will clear the table as fast as they can pull the triggers. My Dillion 650 has not been this busy in a long time.

it looks like this happened in the middle of the night while they were in bed. So its a good possibility he was still a bit foggy from just being awakened.

20. Not me.

longer and harder to maneuver in the confines of a house,
Requires 2 hands to use and enough room to shoulder and aim (can't easily do that while sitting in bed)
Harder to access (compare picking up a handgun from a bedside table to picking up a shotgun from wherever its leaning)
Limited storage options
Low capacity
slow to shoot and reload
Overrated effectiveness
Overrated idea of "spread"
Overpenetration concerns

I'll take a lightweight pistol or carbine length AR any day,
Or a full size semi-auto in 9mm.

I saw a poor cat kit by a car once. He kept running until he stopped dead in his tracks.
