"everybody wants to go to baghdad. real men want to go to tehran." neocon slogan circa 2001

the pnac plan to conquer their "axis or evil" began with iraq. after our troops had been greeted by girls throwing rose petals and waving the red white an blue colors of theur liberators the real war could begin by arming and training the iraqi army to invade iran. cakewalk. damascus here we come!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

not all of the pnac "signatories" are considered neocons, but the neocons are strongly associated with pnac.

1. We should have exited Iraq through Iran and we'd not be having this problem :D

2. That's some neocon thinking

The only path to no war is more war.

Well put.

3. No

More like doing things only half way makes future war inevitable. After 9/11 we should have swept through the entire Middle East with such overwhelming force and destruction that they would be so preoccupied for the next several decades rebuilding they wouldn't have any time to think about the rest of the world.

We did a pretty decent job in Germany and Japan during the post war occupation, you'd have thought we would have retained some of those lessons.

7. I am not aware of any other part of the world that so dominates the world of terror and barbarity

I mean In WW2 would it have been enough to simply push Germany back into it's borders? If you have a self avowed enemy who largely supports your destruction how else do you deal with them? I don't believe they and the Western World can coexist on the same planet.

6. IF going in was a good idea

finishing the job as you describe would have been the serious approach. instead we spent many lives and trillions of dollars for, literally, nothing.

8. I can't disagree

From one end being non-involvement and the other being total war, "limited war" is the worst of all possible options. It's just enough to make a mess of things, and literally not solve or change anything.

14. I didn't say we've had a war with Japan, Germany or Italy since WWII

But I also didn't say that if we kill all of our enemies - no more war.

Which you did. And I was taking you very literally.

And I'm clearly being flippant because if you guys have your way we'd turn the Middle East to glass thinking there'd never be a war again. Yet some how I think that's not how it'd play out. And the level of destruction you'd like to see ain't what America is supposed to be about.

Now, wanna know why we didn't have another war with the countries mentioned above. It wasn't because we destroyed them. It's because we rebuilt them. Are you prepared to do so in the Middle East? Would or could that even work?

17. We were preoccupied with a 45 year Cold War with a former ally

Much of that was fought in Germany iirc

15. Where do Bill and Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi fit in there?

Bill Clinton afterall made it official US Policy and Law to remove Saddam

Back in 19 and 98 he made the Iraq Liberation Act law

Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade and much of his nation's wealth not on providing for the Iraqi people but on developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."
-- President Bill Clinton (State of the Union Address), Jan. 27, 1998

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"No one has done what Saddam Hussein has done, or is thinking of doing. He is producing weapons of mass destruction, and he is qualitatively and quantitatively different from other dictators.""Iraq is a long way from , but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
--Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

16. none of them were pnac signatories

the neocons are not the only cabal who advocate war, nor do the neocons restrict their activity to republican administrations.
