Should the Federal Government be allowed to scan the internet to look for potential mass shooters?

Because they're not.

1. Well, it'd be pretty easy.

All they'd have to do is keep an eye on the primitives on Skins's island (AKA democraticunderground.com); there can't be much else to watch outside of that.

2. I suspect they probably are.

But even with advanced technology they still can't read minds and tell who or when something will happen. Think of the sheer volume of bluster and bullshit that gets posted every day on social media and forums. There's really no way to know which nut case is serious and if/when/where they'll go off.

5. No, because we don't want to use the feds or bots to define potential mass shooters

That could end up getting totally innocent people accused just for saying things someone finds offensive.

Look at my own posts here over the years, I'm a active gun collector and recently posted something on a rifle I just had refinished. Some fed or program could decide since the post discussed "guns" and that could lead to something I should get a visit for no reason other than being a gun owner.

It's a slippery slope that already has lead to 1 death in Maryland

https://www.google.com/search?q=maryland+cops+shoot+gun+owner&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS841US841&oq=Maryland+Cops+&aqs=chrome.4.69i57j0l5.8319j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

The reason the cops were called was the sister disagreed with the mans politics (she was a liberal and hated guns from what I read online).

Red flag laws will be used to harass people, I'll bet real money on it

7. Of course it will, just like 9-1-1 has been used for that same purpose...

"Red flag laws will be used to harass people, I'll bet real money on it"

..."swatting" is the name I believe it is being called now. Really need to make sure that those who abuse it are severely punished for it.

8. Yes.

The internet is a public forum and we openly post here for all to read.
