Pierce Brosnan Endorses Female Bond: "Get Out of the Way, Guys"

Pierce Brosnan saved the world four times as James Bond, a career milestone he cites as his biggest achievement.

The actor says now is the time to pass the legendary role onto a woman, as Lashana Lynch is rumored to take over as the next 007 from Daniel Craig in the upcoming No Time to Die installment.

“Yes!' Brosnan said of the prospect of a female Bond. "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,” he said.

However, he expressed doubt that the change will play out on screen under the current producers. “I don't think that's going to happen with the Broccolis. I don't think that is going to happen under their watch," he said.

As for how the franchise should approach the seductive spy character in the #MeToo era, Brosnan said Bond will have to change with the times.

“Without question, yes... The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so they'll have to address that,” he said.

Sorry. replacing beloved characters for PC reasons is no sale with my house.
Try making a new character, no one will mind then.

1. Ever see "Red Sparrow"?

1 former OSS and one former CIA female agents were in my life once upon a time.

Women have a natural advantage as spies, most men underestimate them.

Sometimes fatally.

2. Then create a new hero and don't hijack a beloved/established character.

3. Exactly. The problem isnt that people are saying,

“A female spy? We can’t have that”, it’s that this particular spy has been established over almost 60 years (in film alone) and is not female. To make them female would require somewhat significant changes to the established persona.

Imagine if someone decided to make Lara Croft or Mary Poppins a dude...

4. As always the rules apply to normals, not deviants

Like the protests for the straight pride parade "you dont need a special day for that, every day is straight pride day!!"

Everyday and everyway it's OK for minorities to have set aside special circumstances for themselves, that is not allowed in the reverse, because every day is normal day, so we need to highlight deviancy whenever and wherever we can.

So it's OK for them to make Bond a lady, and gay next, which would have happened this time they were talking about it but got a little more pushback on it than having Bond be a woman so they went for that, for now, but don't try making Mary Poppins a guy, unless it's a tranny guy, that would probably be OK, or turning Lara Croft into Larry Croft.........hmmmmm.......maybe if there was a comedic angle worked in......

8. As I recall Atomic Blonde did rather well at the box office.

Then there's the "Female James Bond" Modesty Blaise who's been around for almost 60 years herself now. They did a campy version of her on film in the 60's and Quentin Tarantino produced an origin film about her in 2004. There are other examples as well of female spies in the Bond mode. No reason to turn James Bond into Jaime Bond.

10. I get your point.

James Bond's only true love was Mata Hari, iirc.

5. Pierce is free to

state his opinion. For myself, I want to see women in many roles, but there are some that simply don't translate well - a 007 character is one. Others are the 'action' films based on comic book characters that put women in roles written for men just because they're women. The biggest issue is the literal SJW forcing of women on the public in roles they aren't suited, trained, capable or ready to take on.

The movie "Jackie Brown" was, I thought, a very good example of a female criminal mind at work. Tarantino was able to show the way most women would go about committing a crime; sly, manipulation, using men to get what she wants.

6. Why do they have to hijack existing long established characters instead of creating new ones?

SPIDER-WOMAN #1

BABY ON BOARD! Jessica Drew is a private investigator, a super hero and… a mom to be? Since we last saw her, Spider-Woman’s got a whole NEW responsibility — she’s super heroing for two now, after all! Ben Urich and Porcupine are still along for the adventure, too, and aren’t making Jess’ life any easier – half the time they won’t even let her leave the car! How’s a gal supposed to save innocent people and keep herself out of harm’s way? See how in the mother of all Spider-Stories!

Ok, I see why now............and her actions sure seems like child endangering to me, but obviously she gets a free pass from the SJW/PC crowd..........

7. I've no problem with a female 007, I do have a problem with a female Bond

If they want to continue the franchise then bring in a new 007 and let Bond retire. I believe that's how the current movie in production starts and the female 007 agent gets killed or put in a situation where Bond is forced out for retirement for 1 mission

9. Yeah, yeah. Blah, blah.

Another movie about some 110 pound girl beating up a few dozen 250 pound bad guys.

Yadda-yada-yadda.

No thanks.
