Teen Girls Suspended from School for Refusing to Wear LGBTQ Pride Pin

Several teenage girls were suspended from high school because they refused to wear a gay pride pin required by the school.

According to the Post Millennial, the girl is a cousin to Cyara Bird, a former Conservative representative from Northern Manitoba, Canada.

The former politician announced the suspension on social media.

“My 17-year-old cousin was suspended today,” Bird tweeted. “Want to know why? Her choir teacher was demanding that the choir wear rainbow poppies during their performance in the Remembrance Day ceremony. She and another student rejected that idea, and both were suspended for ‘hate speech.'”

2. Tolerance V Acceptance.

We can and often are mandated to Tolerate someone or a situation. Our culture, laws, and dealing with society demand this,

We are never going to be forced to Accept anyone or anything. That deals with our personal thoughts and beliefs.

Gay people have every right to be Tolerated without being discriminated against but should have zero expectation that they or laws are able to force anyone to Accept them.

Tolerance is a mandate almost always from the outside, Acceptance is how we feel and judge others against our own inside beliefs.

You simply do not have a right to tell me how to feel.

9. The Canadaian education system is a lost cause.

So is much of the US system. Very authoritarian in both HS and University.

16. I am very supportive on Gay rights, I am pro choice, I support 2A and 1A strongly. I am a moderate.

But I'm also educated and Psy 1 day 1 chapter 1 paragraph 1 will inform you that your feelings are neither right or wrong, nor good or bad but yours and yours alone, and that you are entitled to them.

We are talking about feelings, not actions or even words.

So when morons try and legislate how people are supposed to feel they are nucking futs and attempting the impossible.

You can legislate and mandate tolerance but acceptance is all about how we judge things against all of those positions thoughts and feelings we have gained via our own life experiences.

This concept is beyond the far right and the far left.

It indicates that these people just may have a problem with "solipsism".

Now there is the word of the day.

15. It was fact back then

Seinfeld was a mockery of society. The humor was in it's truth.

4. have you ever seen a choir?

and poppies are a symbol of veterans day, appropriate for a remembrance day performance.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

11. 105 years since they went off. They were told it would be over by Christmas.

Three of my dad's uncle's, brothers, died because of it. Two came home to die and one is buried in Flanders fields. Uncle Harry.

My maternal grandpa made it through alive though. 1914 to 1918 he was there with only a break to be patched up at the British hospital in Egypt. He died an old man in 1975.

5. You will be made to care.

All in the name of "compassion", naturally.

10. I'd like to see the flyer.

The students created a flyer to explain why they did not want to wear the LGBTQ poppy. The school called the flyer “hate speech” and suspended the two girls.

Other than that.. probably just people believing what they read on the internet because it makes someone they don't like look bad.
