Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Gets Entire Solar Co. Workforce Fired After Telling Them to Unionize

The owners of a solar power company fired their entire workforce after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agitated the workers and urged them to unionize.

Looks like having the queen of the Green New Deal telling them to unionize was probably not the best advice, huh?

Last week, Bright Power decided to fire its staff and farm all the work out to subcontractors instead of maintaining their own workforce. The firing occurred just as the workers were following Ocasio-Cortez’s advice to form a union.

According to reports, Bright Power had hired a full-time workforce, employing them for the last four years. But before that, the company used subcontractors.

Unsurprisingly, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez was displeased with the company’s actions.

Chris Schroth, one of the fired solar workers, was also understandably miffed.

“This is obviously retaliation for union organizing,” Schroth said. “The total hypocrisy of their progressive mission as a green energy company is disgusting. They did everything that a big bad union busting company does. This is exactly what a coal company or any other evil company does.”

“We were belittled and ignored,” another worker anonymously told Vice. “They never told us we had to do anything but there was implied punishment if we didn’t.”

Raymond Kitson, one of the union thugs who thought he was going to represent the Bright Power workers, called the company’s actions an example of “union busting.”

“This is right out of the playbook of any union busting corporation. They know these men can’t afford to be out of work,” Kitson said. “They’ll make them squabble over a couple week’s severance just so they can make it to Christmas.”

Well, bummer, huh?

And just as amusingly, Bright Power is reportedly a growing company.

Inc. magazine named the company one of 5,000 fastest growing companies in the U.S.

I guess your lesson, here, is not to take job advice from a socialist

2. retaliation based on organizing a union is unlawful

https://www.dol.gov/dol/fact-sheet/immigration/RetaliationBasedExerciseWorkplaceRightsUnlawful.htm

in normal times the employees would prevail. failure to "faithfully execute the law" is an impeachable offense.

7. Unions are a thing of the past.

They drive the cost of everything higher. They are the driving force for companies moving jobs off shore.

At least the company didn’t just close the plant and send the jobs to Mexico like many companies have done. There are some people working as contractors now who are probably very happy working there.

Screw the greedy socialists.

8. the proce of things is not "hugher" or "lower"

but consists of material + overhead + labor + profit.

the price is not "higher" if labor is paid fair wages. in that case the price is "fair."

11. Define ''fair wages''...and explain how that works while China can dump products into the US...

"the price is not "higher" if labor is paid fair wages. in that case the price is "fair."

...market at selling prices lower than what US based companies pay for the raw materials alone???

12. You are correct the cost of labor is calculated into the price

so are taxes but that’s another subject.

In any event labor is cheaper in other countries therefore the work goes to other countries. When the cost of labor is higher than the cost of transportation what did you think would happen?

The problem is Democrats or anyone on the left can never define what a fair wage is. They love to say what the minimum wages should be but have they ever come up with a maximum wage that someone can earn for doing any job? Then is $15 an hour is a fair wage why not make it 30 $ and have it be a great wage?

Just paying union dues artificially increase is the cost of labor, unions are a thing of the past.

10. But that goes into effect only once

a vote was taken to pursue unionization with the NLRB. Before that- its open season!

And even then- they were at will employees!

I don't remember you writing anything close to that during Obama's flouting of immigration law.

3. What company can go from paying workers $16-$18/hour to $56/hour (plus benefits) as union demanded??

Following supply & demand, if these workers had a skillset worth that much, other employers would've scooped them up................

19. 30 years of age would make her an old and decrepit porn actress

The only thing she has going for her, something even remotely attractive to some slimeballs, are her mammaries.

In a few short years, those weight bags will be hanging down to her belly button.

Yeeuck. You can have her.
