Shotgun enthusiasts?

Does anyone here shoot sporting clays? If so, what's your typical score? I don't get to shoot very often so I'm not particularly good - I typically get 70 out of 100, plus or minus a few. The guy who introduced me to it never breaks fewer than 96.

2. My brother-in-law and sister do. Not sure of their scores,

but they've won some trophies and such. I'm moderately better than him with a handgun, due to more use.

3. I'm not nearly good enough to even think about entering a competition.

My buddy has won a lot of shooting trophies. Former special forces, good with all kinds of firearms. Our politics are worlds apart, but we get along great anyway.

4. That's what I like about shooting and barbecue.

People that are polar opposites regarding politics can come together for something that REALLY matters!

6. I did it semi-competitively 25 years ago.

Two $4k custom shotguns + made all my own loads. Stepped away from it when I moved back to Texas and never went back to it.

Generally, scores needed to be in the high 90's to be in the money

7. Hubby does. No pace to compete way out here.

Dad was a ATA trap shooter. No real interest in scatter gun and clays. Might if there were some ranges nearby.

8. We have two spots within an hour's drive.

But I have only so much leisure time, and other hobbies tend to get priority so I don't really do it all that often. But I enjoy it more than shooting rifles and pistols at stationary paper targets, which is the only other opportunity I've had.

9. We have a rifle and pistol range in our backyard...the joy of living in the twigs.

Target throwers are less expensive than they used to be, but we have not put one in. Hubby has thought about a shotgun team at the high school, but everything here is such a drive.

10. I envy your residence.

I have out of state vacation property where I can do such things, but my primary residence is just outside the downtown of a small city. It's not bad, but I grew up with more space and at some point I intend to live that way again.

11. There is a price for such solitude.

It is surprisingly expensive to live here. Sky high energy bills (electric and propane), Satellite TV and internet and a lot of gas if you need to go anywhere.
