Sportsbooks across the country refund money due to no-call on Saints

https://wwl.radio.com/blogs/kristian-garic/sportsbooks-across-country-refund-money-due-no-call-saints

Sports books around the country are crediting or refunding point spread and money line bets placed on the Saints. Why? A “no call” for pass interference against the Rams in the final two minutes of regulation play that cost the Saints a trip to the Super Bowl.

When Las Vegas and other sports books start refunding money to public bettors that says a lot about how stinky the “no call” appears in the Saints loss to the Rams. By refunding money, sports books are effectively anointing the Saints NFC champions. The NFL has been put on notice by this move as well. I’ve never seen a sports book refund money based on an official’s call or no call.

Sportsbooks are calling out the NFL for identifying the Rams as conference champions based on a poor decision by one of the league’s officials. The NFL sits in silence waiting and hoping this will pass. No real statement from the commissioner on the blown call. No press conference. NOTHING!

1. do i have to give back the money i won on the rams?

the wwl radio link does not source this story, which might just be "fake news."

this play should have been reviewed, but as a "judgement call" the saints coach could not call for the review. by running the next play (a field goal) the saints accepted the ruling on the field.

were they robbed? yes, of course. but i'll need to see a statement from a las vegas hotel owner or the atlantic city bookie in chief before i give back that $100 i won with rams +3.

2. The ref fucked up but...

The Rams still managed to score 6 points after that. Bad call or not, the Saints just got outplayed at the end.

The Pats almost did too. Almost.

3. Pats would've lost if that interception hadn't been negated by the neutral zone penalty

7. Like I said. *Almost*

Both the Pats and Saints squandered their first half leads. The Pats are clutch though. Never count them out until the clock hits 0:00. Brady has now seen more superbowls than any other franchise (except the Pats, obviously). He’s a legend.

Brady doesn’t have much time left though and I suspect the Pats might turn into the 9ers post Montana unless they find a Steve Young that lasts.

4. I just sent $25.00, which will be doubled by Change Org, ten minutes ago. It was the single worst

call I've seen in any sport, and the game needs to be replayed. If not, I hope Brady buries the Rams. That ref should be kicked out of his job and never be allowed to referee again.

5. I guess the bookies think the Saints got more votes and should have won?

I mean their refund is nice and all but about as worthless as Hillary getting more illegals to vote for her than Trump, is it not?

6. Gotta call bullshit on this one, boys.

WHICH SPORTS BOOKS?

Not only that, but it would be IMPOSSIBLE for a ref to know there would be a sideline pass near the goal line and that the cornerback would get to the receiver before the ball did.

This isn't bad shooting in a basketball game, or a pitcher tipping pitches. This was a football thrown from 30 yards away. Brees, the receiver, AND the cornerback would have had to be in on it.

WHICH SPORTS BOOKS WERE REFUNDING MONEY?

Bullshit.

8. I call bullshit too...

The winner of the bet is determined by the score at the end of the game.

10. Okay... you win.

But I have to say "One New Jersey-based sportsbook" is not "Sportsbook(S) as it said in the OP.

And a "bonus bet" is NOT a refund. From your link:

"PointsBet initially said Monday it “will refund all wagers” on the spread and money-line bets on the Saints, who lost the game after officials failed to call a penalty on a Los Angeles Rams defender who leveled a New Orleans receiver long before the ball arrived.

But later in the afternoon, PointsBet said those “refunds” would come in the form of bonus bets, not cash payouts."

13. I don't understand

how the refs have been getting away with such obvious bad calls as long as they have.

Another really bad one I recall was in 2012 during a regular ref lockout...called by substitutes, it was horrendous

14. No guarantee they score even with the penalty. Remember the Seahawks in the SB....
