Anyone care to speculate on what happens if Michael Sam DOESN'T make the team? REDUX

Good question that was blocked needs to be asked again, a lil more civilly, if you don't mind please.

I don't think Michael Sam will make it far, if not cut. I never thought he was a good enough player in general. Look at Tim Tebow. He was first round draft pick, and I never thought he was good either.

1. Well we know for sure that the gay mafia will go ballistic.

But that's a given, isn't it.

2. To be perfectly honest and straight forward

He was a token pick. Had he not been drafted, the gay rights organizations would've jumped on the NFL's asses over that. But nevertheless, he is not that good, gay or straight.

5. He's borderline enough that people will see what they want to see in his performance.

As a tweener (too small for DE, an unknown at LB) who doesn't have a lot of speed, his hill is going to be a hard one to climb. His role may simply be a larger one -- breaking barriers, so when more talented gay players come along, it's not a Thing anymore.

12. has value

He will be a 3rd down specialist, special teams middle power.he will have good DT's to keep him free.We will see in pre-season.I believe the mental pressure will be tough. Can he survive that?? Hundred of straight players can't each year

11. The question for me is how much money does the Rams' owner get from jersey sales...

Is it Rams money or is it shared equally with all NFL teams? If the Rams get the lion's share, signing him was a stroke of genius whether he makes the team or not.

If he gets cut though, there WILL be wailing and gnashing of teeth, no doubt about it.

15. IIRC

The league shares all money equally, TV revenue, jersey sales, etc. About the only thing that each team controls & pockets is the ticket revenue.

I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

16. If he doesn't make it

it won't be because he didn't get the opportunity. If it comes down to the last spot, the Rams probably will keep him, simply because the publicity and merchandising benefits will outweigh any iffy-ness about his talent.
