No more 4 pitch intentional walks

"MLB is about to make a major rule change, altering how intentional walks are handed out.
Instead of a pitcher throwing four pitches out of the strike zone, the walk will be awarded on a signal from the dugout"

1. Anybody else have baseball-loving friends who are screaming about this?

A couple of my old acquaintances have taken it on-line, squealing like their children have been gang-raped.

Baseball, meet short attention span. And get the fuck over it.

2. Don't know anyone scramming about it

But not real popular in these hear parts.

Some really goofy things have happened when the pitcher has to throw.

3. I've seen pitchers throw wild pitches while intentionally walking to load the bases.

Two outs, runners at second and third... walk the batter (especially if he's a hot bat) to load the bases making a force possible on any infield ground ball.

It's hard for someone who throws at a target directly behind the plate and who has been doing it nearly all their life to do that.

Pitcher throws a wild pitch; run scores. I've seen it happen lots of times.

I've also seen a batter lean over the plate and hit a ball that wasn't far enough outside the strike zone.

6. I think they'll be okay with the drying time

the estimated time savings should average 14 seconds per game....

7. That completely sucks.

Those few one-minute intentional walk at bats tend to be among the most interesting situations in the game. The pitcher is usually under stress, so a wild pitch is on absolutely everyone's mind. They take out one of the more interesting, traditional, intense aspects of the game to save one minute every 2.6 games? Who does that?

8. Dont recall which MLB pitcher said this

When told by the dug out to walk a batter, I would hit him with the first pitch and save myself 3 more pitches.

9. That's a rule change that would make me actually interested in watching a game.
