Colin Kaepernick update: some teams ‘genuinely hate him’
49ers GM says less likely QB returns after recent moves

~~snip~~

Kaepernick has not been linked to any teams since entering free agency last week for the first time in his six-year career.

“He can still play at a high level,” an anonymous AFC general manager told Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman. “The problem is three things are happening with him.

“First, some teams genuinely believe that he can’t play. They think he’s shot. I’d put that number around 20 percent.

“Second, some teams fear the backlash from fans after getting him. They think there might be protests or (President) Trump will tweet about the team. I’d say that number is around 10 percent. Then there’s another 10 percent that has a mix of those feelings.

“Third, the rest genuinely hate him and can’t stand what he did . They want nothing to do with him. They won’t move on. They think showing no interest is a form of punishment. I think some teams also want to use Kaepernick as a cautionary tale to stop other players in the future from doing what he did.”

Sure he was free to kneel in protest. But he's a free agent now. Teams are free to simply not touch him with a ten foot pole. there is no obligation to give Kaepernick a job.
bottom line: CONSEQUENCES

1. I think these are true....but..

Don't be surprise if he gets picked up. Backup QBs who can perform, and he's shown he can at a certain level, are a valued commodity. Hell, if Mark Sanchez can pick up a roster spot, Kap can. Emphasis on backup

Hell even Tebow stayed on a few seasons.

2. What he did...

OK, he didn't beat his wife or kid

He didn't murder anyone

He didn't even get involved in a club fracas

He exercised his right to free speech, as repugnant as many seem to think that was.

So, seeing as he didn't commit an actual crime, if he were still any good at all, there would be some teams out there that would overlook his not standing for the National Anthem.

Because football is a business. The bottom line is always, what can this guy do for us...

I think the number...20%...of teams that believe he's washed up might be higher

He's just not good enough anymore to take a chance on, IMO.

3. he did exercise his right

But the thing that libs do not get is that exercising a right does not shield him from the consequences of his actions. him taking a knee prob cost him a couple hundred million dollars over his much shortened career...

I'm having a great laugh over this one.... Consequences of ones actions and self responsibility are not what the left ever wants to deal with.

4. Absolutely cost him $.

Owners don't want baggage if they can avoid it. Though, my beloved Eagles hired Vick after that disgusting crime.

I think it often comes down to skills. Kap has demonstrated he has back up QB skills. Which may afford him a roster spot. I'll bet that negotiations include his conduct on the field. Nobody wants that headache.

6. If he played like Tom Brady, all would love him. It's a results-based league
