Freak February: record highs clobbering lows by more than 100-to-1 ratio

http://mashable.com/2017/02/23/february-heat-records/

And it's not the daily records that are most impressive, but rather the number of monthly records that are being tied or broken from the Gulf Coast all the way to the Midwest and northeastward into Canada. During the past week alone (not including Feb. 23), there were 736 daily record highs set or tied in the U.S., compared to zero daily record lows for the same period.

Even more startling is the number of record warm overnight temperatures set or tied in the past seven days, which total a whopping 940. There were no record cold overnight low temperatures set or tied during the same period.

And the monthly records, which are far harder to break than daily milestones, are astounding.

3. Wow great news!

The warmer it is in the north the less heating oil people will use to heat their homes. The less oil they burn the less of the bad carbon being released to kill us all. Once again the earth protects itself from these humans proving that you can't fool mother nature again.

Good work Mother Nature.

5. We reached a new record high temp yesterday with 88 degrees. That's 30 degrees above average.

While this area is not known for it's harsh winters, we usually see some ice and snow. Last year we had no snow at all and this year we had one snowfall of about 2 1/2 inches. I can't really say that I'm complaining, but it has really been unusual.

7. Yep, it's called weather. It changes every so often.

Meanwhile, other places around the planet are experiencing the onset of a new Maunder Minimum.

11. I'm glad you bring that up

Despite decreased solar activity , the global temperature has been steadily ticking up.

That is due to CO2.
