3. Yeah, that STOL stuff is very fascinating! I was watching some of it on youtube when

the Draco footage was slotted into my suggested viewing. That Wilga rebuild into Draco cost about 1 million bucks. I bet 70-80% of that was on the engine alone.

4. What I think is great about STOL airplanes

Is some can be had for less than $100k. Many of them are light enough to qualify as light sport aircraft which doesn't require your typical (costing about $15k), private pilot's license. You can look into FAA requirements for light sport.

Also, last but not least, they are great for flying into the back country, fill game tag, fly out. Easy peasy. Or just a camping trip where no one else can get to and enjoy that.

Guns & STOL Flying. Fly into the backcountry, fill game tag, fly out. Easy peasy.

Dropping into the backcountry for some enjoyable camping where no one else will be.

5. I hadn't seen those before. i really enjoyed the second one. Those vids I posted

earlier or from Trent Palmer's channel. They call themselves The Flying Cowboys and seem like a pretty good group of folks.

I think I'm a bit partial to the Kitfox with it's side-by-side seating. The Cub is superior in just about every metric, but I really like have a redundant set of controls for the person next to me. LOL Also, Kitfox has a new Rotax engine that is nipping at the heals of the Cub.

I'm very intrigued with the bush planes. But in Texas, with most of the land private owned, there really is no way to do that kind of flying. If you're interested, Mike Patee (SP?) did a series of videos of him rebuilding the Wilga into Draco. Very interesting if you are mechanically inclined. Apparently Mike has a name for himself in the aviation industry with a number of records, and products to his name.
