Iphone question: Extract ALL data?

I need to know if anybody knows of a way, or if it is even possible to extract all data from an Iphone. By that I mean all emails, texts, notes, photos, contacts, phone logs, etc.

I'm an Android and Windows guy, so this is unfamiliar territory.

Let me explain why, so nobody thinks I am up to no good. A friend of mine, who was the cousin of a VERY good friend of mine passed away Wednesday from a suspected opioid overdose. There is some uncertainty whether this was an intentional suicide, accidental, or something more nefarious. I have been approached by my friend to see if I can get everything off of his phone to hopefully bring a little peace and closure to the family, and if anything fishy turns up to hand over to law enforcement.

1. My answer was to leave it in the box at the store.

I don't do apple junk.

Though I can understand and do sympathize with your need.

2. Believe you me

I do not now, nor would I ever own an Apple product, but it is what it is, and this has been entrusted to me.

We just got back from the funeral home. It's just terrible.

4. We knew him rather well

He worked with our other friend in construction. He helped to rebuild our home after it burned. He was very much the lovable rogue type. We just spent the last hour at the funeral home doing shots and telling really bad dirty jokes in his honor.

5. Wow.

That is rough.

The construction field...I tend to believe there is a lot of potential for abuse of prescription stuff within that field.

The worker is squeezed potentially by injury on one side, and by legitimate demand for performance on the part of the employer, on the other.

And that doesn't even begin to account for actual physical pain and the motivation it can provide all by itself.

6. A lot of what Les did was bought and paid for

Up until last year he was a big man. 500 pounds big. There wasn't a substance he wouldn't take or a scam he wouldn't run. I really didn't know it was possible to be a meth and heroin junkie and be that big. At the same time however, he was one of the kindest, most decent people I ever knew. His decency led you to forgive, or at least overlook a lot of serious character flaws. Last year he had both a heart attack and broke both his legs falling off of a ladder. The recovery from that made him decide to clean up his act. He had a gastric band installed and lost half his body weight. As far as we knew he was off the junk. We think, however, there was a lot of residual pain and other issues from the years of carrying the weight and self abuse.

The real problem arose due to his inability to say no. He opened his home to a lot of people with nowhere to go. The problem is it is never a good idea to let in a bunch of junkies when you are trying to clean up your act.

7. yea, this shit is really rampant these days.

Almost exactly one year ago, I lost a cousin who overdosed on heroin... a 19 year old kid who no one would ever suspect in a million years of messing with that garbage... but he wound up dead one morning. I think he might be the only drug user my family has ever known of... it was that far out of place.
It really is a shame we don't have more effective ways to intervene and prevent this stuff, it wrecks entire families, destroys lives, and enriches criminals. Your buddy sounds a lot like someone I used to know... someone who was about 15 years older than me. Everyone called him "Skin" because he was covered in tattoos, head to toe, and probably 300-350 pounds. In the very rural area we lived in at that time, a motorcycle gang seemed out of place, but there they were, he was part of that bunch of derelicts. I saw him every day working at the family gas station we had, and I always just looked down, did the gas thing, and off he went... I figured he knife me or something if I said the wrong thing. But he invited me to one of their parties once, a hog roast.. I was about 17 I think. Against my better judgement, I went (free beer for underage idiot). Those guys turned out to be the nicest bunch you ever met. I probably wouldn't want to be on their bad side, but thats a different argument altogether. It's odd how people who have good hearts wind up mixed up with bad behavior and debauchery like that.
I wish I knew more about the iphone thing, I just don't do apple.

8. First of all, let me say I am sorry for your loss.

What a tragedy.

If he set it up, all of this data will be backed up on the iCloud. But you have to have the UserID & password to access it.

Then you can use an application like this to extract it all.

http://www.imactools.com/iphonebackupviewer/

Hope this helps.
