2. The period 1946 - 1965 saw the development of most modern aircraft types

It was to jet aircraft development what 1991 - 2010 was to the internet.

Practically every version of engine layout, one and two-person cockpits, wing sweep angle, delta versus tailplanes, high and low tail surfaces, etc. had been tried and many had gone into production.

Same thing for bombers and military / commercial transports.

This seems much like the F-102 and F-106 interceptors. Unlike the F-106, it doesn't appear to have carried air-to-air missiles with nuclear warheads.
