Imagine how revolutionary this was in 1972

I suspect the guys who were at Xerox at the time are kicking themselves to this day for not refining this and letting Steve Jobs basically walk away with the idea.

1. If they'd played their cards right, they could have come up with the Wang Office Information System

3. My first email account was an ARPANET account.

Xerox PARC did great research and invention. Windows. The mouse. Packet (PUP) networking protocol.

But it took others to make it commercially viable. Heady days back then for the computer industry in Silicon Valley. Back then I was working on hard realtime DOD projects with networked PDP 11/70s. Being a junior guy I was selected to learn some 'useless' new fangled RDMS technology called "Oracle". Back in 1980 Oracle V1 was just a government prototype. And the company was called RSI.

All of them were too stultified and trapped into the "real" computers are huge behemoths that filled a room paradigm to see the future even after they had invented it.

5. Yep, and we are JUST now getting screen resolution back to what it WAS decades ago

with the CRT monitors. I went to flat panels under sever protest. The resolution has sucked so bad for so long with crappy flat panels. They are finally, almost, on par with my 21" Dell branded CRT. I never did understand the rush to flat panels.
