They really did build things better in the past

You literally can't buy a toaster that works this well today.

3. I have three of them in my house

One that I still use that used to belong to my wife's grandmother. It works great. Another one that I brought home from my brother's house because the cord was dangerously ragged. I still have to replace the cord. (Yes, I intend to put a grounded cord on it).

And a third one in my pantry that I'm not sure where it came from.

4. We have this seriously over-engineered "Smart Toaster"

That automatically lowers and raises the bread, and toasts according to temperature, so I suppose it is very similar; but it cost us $250!! $250 for a box that toasts bread.

5. My first blender was a 20 year old "hand me down" from my parents.

It lasted me another 10 years before it gave up the ghost. Worked fantastically. I've gone through 3 more in the 20 some odd years since then. No, they don't build them like they used to.
