My internet is too high?

My wife's cable box stopped working a couple of days ago. So this AM the cable guy shows up with a new box. First he says he has to adjust the internet it's too high. So it was down for about 5 minutes, back up now seems fine.

But I am at a loss WTH does that even mean?

1. Possibly cable signal strength

The cable system needs to provide the box a signal within certain limits to work properly

2. Upstream signal level...

was probably too high. That could indicate a problem in your cable modem.

Here is a good tutorial on cable modems: https://www.howtogeek.com/240575/how-to-read-your-cable-modems-diagnostic-page-when-something-goes-wrong/

Go down to the section on signal strength. If the signal levels get too high, amplifiers on the other end will saturate and distort the signal.

3. Your cable box was using digital MJ.
