Apple's new monitor costs 5 grand and doesn't come with a stand.

But don't worry.
The stand only costs 1000 dollars more.
gotta be able to see it right?

Holy fuck man.
I like my mac pro but I certainly wouldn't spend $6000 for the new one, $5000 for the 32" monitor and $1000 for the fucking stand that ISN'T INCLUDED!!

Fucking lunatics.

2. it's true.

I have a mac but I didn't pay anywhere close to that. I got a used mac pro tower 2 years ago for 700 bucks.
It's still going strong and never had an issue with it.
I have a Linux desktop that I built for under 600 and a Linux laptop. Both of those run perfect as well.

It's sad how people will let themselves be ripped off like that just to have the newest shiny toy.

The specs aren't even that great on the new mac pro either.. for 6 grand.. total fucking rip off.

4. it does.

They really don't mind fleecing their customers at all.
They always buy the stuff anyway.
When my mac pro finally dies I'll not be getting another.
Linux is just fine and once configured and running properly, it's smooth and fast.

5. My wife has a Microsoft Surface Studio

The top of the line model, touch and pen sensitive screen on an amazing weighted mount, costs less than that monitor alone. The resolution, while in a bit of a strange aspect ratio, exceeds 4k quality, and comes with a faster processor, and more memory.

6. my daughter bought one of those after her iMac shit the bed

She likes it. Not sure what the specs are but for what she uses it for it's no problem
I just tend to avoid Microsoft products as much as I can for reasons I can't even remember. Lol

7. As a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) I have every qualification to hate M$ ;)

And in many ways I really do hate them. I will, however, say the Studio and the two Surface Pro's we own have extraordinary build quality. They are just really well thought out.

Through emulation they all handle Mint just fine. Hell, I even came upon a Hackintosh copy of MacOS that gives me no problems. Personally, just like IPhoneOS, i just hate the way MacOS works. I feel line I am locked out of my own equipment and the way the screens and menus are laid out make no damn sense to me at all. With Windows and Linux I can customize damn near everything to look and work the way I want. Apple products always seem to feel like it is forcing you to conform into how they think your experience should be.

Apple charges quite a premium to lock you into their little cult filled walled garden.

8. I have been using OSX for about 3 years. I still don't like how it works in that way either.

Maybe it was growing up on windows but I still find myself wondering how to do something that should be instinct.
It runs great though, no problems with that. I had linux before the mac too but the mac is a lot faster than those, so I decided to use it more.

The money for a new one isn't worth it at all. I'll ride it out until it is about dead, then put it in the boxes with all the other ones I got fed up with.
I still have all my old computers since 1995. Sometimes I'll boot one up and see what's on it. A lot of old memories, pics, videos and chats and stuff.. Had a hard time to find CDs to burn lol.. wanted to back some shit up and no stores had cd-r.. hahah

Like you said with linux distros you can pretty much make anything look how you want it. More than pretty much really, if you really want to take the time to change it all in code and stuff.
