From Russia, With Love!

I have a "Meridian" radio enroute from the former USSR. This is a ten transistor set made in 1968. These sets supposedly rival the Zenith Transoceanics, and have an unusual internal magnetic antenna system.

The description I recieved from the seller is, without any doubt, the best I have ever read.

"Simply the best radio description I have ever had someone send me...

"good afternoon....this receiver somewhere 60 years of the last century...originally from the manufacturer there was a battery...at 9 volts... but from time to time of course he was spoiled... and when I took this receiver for the first time, I connected my power source to test it -- a normal 9-volt crown...there's just two wires plus and minus... and they can be connected to any 9 v power supply... even though batteries battery....you can take 6 batteries of type LR14 any batteries of type C. as an analogue, models R14, HR14, 14D, 14A, 343, A343 are used. but probably the preferred crown -- she's one in 9v/// I CAUGHT ABOUT 30 PROGRAMS ON ALL BANDS...LW-MW-SW-SW1-SW2-SW3//// ON SOME BETTER FISH TRANSFER MW - SW --- ON THE OTHER IS WORSE THAN==ON SW3 ONLY ONE GEAR CATCH......( YES FORGOT TO WRITE---- LAST LINK AT THE END OF THE ANTENNA IS POPPING UP ( POORLY KEPT )"

Suprising that the Russians were permissive with the original factory battery, and over time be became spoiled.

Not sure why there are fish on A.M. and S.W..

But wait, there's more!

Living history...

Radio " Meridian " has released the Kiev factory " Radiopribor " since 1967 . Radio ' Meredian ' ' for receiving a radio bands LW , MW and SW , 4 rrazbitom subband stretched 3 (25 , 31, 41) and one polurastyanuty (49 ... 75 m) .According to the electro-acoustic parameters of the receiver meets the requirements for portable models Class 2 , and on chuvctvitelnosti and selectivity of adjacent channels , and the mirror in the MF and AGC exceeds them. One important operational advantages in comparison with other similar receivers is the presence of the magnetic antenna ,in addition to the telescopic shortwave subbands with sufficiently high operating efficiency. the receiver circuit is configured by 10 transistors. The receiver is produced for export , which was opposed only in the inscriptions in English .The main parameters of the receiver as follows: Actual sensitivity when receiving a magnetic antenna in the range of DV - 1.5 mV / m, SW - 0.8 mV / m, HF - 1 ... KB-IV - 0,4 mV / m at telescopic antenna in the range of kb -I ... KBIII 50 uV , HF -IV 100 mV . But adjacent channel selectivity ( at a detuning of 10 kHz ) better than 46 dB.Image rejection in the range : 40 dB ET , NE 30 dB and 12 dB on KB . AGC is operated so that when the voltage at the receiver input of 40 dB at the output voltage varies by 6 dB. Rated receiver output 150 mW with harmonic distortion 7 % . Maximum power output of 350 mW .The band played a loudspeaker 1GD - 28 - 200 ... 4000 Hz . The average sound pressure level at rated power of 0.25 N / m . Receiver powered by 2 batteries KBSL -0,5 or 6 elements 343. The current consumption in silent mode 11 mA and at rated power output of 50 mA . Dimensions receiver - 260h155h69 . Its mass is 1.8 kg .
