Strawberry Shortwave ...

Forever.

WTWW, Tennessee, on 5.085 Mhz (thanks to Butchie for the alignment 😂)

The National Panasonic RF-5000, circa 1967, was a radio favored by the "chattering class" (diplomats).
It is serious business, weighing in at 30 lbs. or so.

19 Germanium transistors and germanium diodes, a push - pull audio stage, and a 7x5" oval and 5" round speaker = vintage audio nirvana.

2. Cool!

They are a pretty interesting set.

20 germanium transistors, mechanically complex, gorgeous sound!

3. Yeah, he inherited from his grandfather, who got it new

We have been friends since high school. I can remember us sitting up late way back then and DX-ing.
