Russian Navy Deployment "Stupid"
"Sending these very specialized ships to the Mediterranean – well, it's like sending a Tyrannosaur to catch mice," said Moscow-based defense analyst Pavel Felgenhauer, adding that it is "not effective. Stupid, actually."
"Some of these ships can attack large targets with cruise missiles," he said. "But, basically, they can do that from any place. They do not have to go close to the Syrian coast for that."
What is Putin thinking?

3. But, with the Russians
they don't have a lot to project, And their fleet is unreliable. There is a high risk of embarrassment.
That said, I was on a USS in the 80s, sailing through the northern Malacca Straight, and we went dead in the water. A Soviet sub surfaced a few hundred yards to port while we were drifting. That was embarrassing... and a bit unnerving.

4. Maybe he doesn't want all his military assets sitting in one spot?
Hillary IS threatening Russia -
Now, I do not know where USA's most strength is over there - but maybe he is moving assets around more to handle a perceived threat from the USA?
I am convinced of one thing -
Putin is NOT stupid.
Far from it.
