Wendy's to hire 1,000 robots to counter minimum wage increases.

Therefore making it less likely you'll order one thing and get another.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-02-27/minimum-wage-massacre-wendys-unleashes-1000-robots-counter-higher-labor-costs

And what seemed like something out of The Jetson's 50 years ago is now less than a decade from being the norm in fast food restaurants.

3. Smart money says you couldn't be more right.

Ironic thing is though that the schmuck whose job it will be to simply maintain it, keeping it lubed and such will likely make the same minimum wage the robot was put in place to avoid.

14. And the source alters the message how?

So Wendy's is buying 1000 robots. What difference does it make who reported it?

4. This is nothing new

Automation marches on.

From vending machines to ATMs to all sorts of manufacturing, this has been going on for a long time and will continue.

8. Fair enough. FWIW the Jack in the Box in my city has a kiosk for ordering...

It's been there over a year. I'll get a pic of it the next time I'm there.

17. Heck, we have had restaurants here with kiosks for people to place their orders for years

They allow an employee that would normally stand at the counter to prepare the orders.

Speeds up things nicely, plus the orders are filled more accurately and economically.

15. Increased automation is coming no matter who sits in the Oval Office

That is obvious. If it can be automated at a lower cost with equal or higher QA/QC it will be.

16. yea under PRESIDENT OBAMA the lack of job was a sign

of a failed president under trump the right says well it's due to automation nothing can be done .
well with that attitude nothing will be done . dont bother trying to encourage, thru the tax code or any other means , production of wind and solar equipment and training for those out of a job .

the right could have supported obama's jobs bills but hey nothing can be done about it

21. Automation makes sense but what does not make sense is ....

the complete blindness of both mainstream conservatives and liberals to refuse to understand what the real issue is. The real issue is why are we encouraging people to breed and get tax breaks when in order to maintain a good standard of living for the society as a whole you need a shortage of labor.

Overpopulation + Increased Automation = Overabundance of labor
Overabundance of labor + Lower wages = Societal breakdown

It ain't hard to understand but if you can replace low value labor with machines how are you planning on feeding and housing the people you used to employ. If they have no skills and cannot get work then what do you think they will do with their time?

Are you going to reserve some low wage jobs that we used to use to teach our children about work ethic with some protectionist law?

Now those are issues that should be discussed rationally and if your answer is use rich peoples money to pay for the low skilled workers to have a minimum income then tell me this, if all they do is stay home and fuck all day how will the rich people make enough money to provide support for the myriads of children they produce?....Ohh it is a sticky wicket alright.
