Does this happen to anyone else?

Does your microwave oven kill your wifi signal? It strikes me it may signify an issue with the oven.

2. Putting it to the test, I just put a bowl of water in my 1100 Watt microwave and my tablet showed...

... no dimunition of signal strength. I will now send...

... and you may need to check for rf radiation leakage..

4. It's been my last three microwaves

All Panasonic. Perhaps that says something about them...

7. I have not yet tested this

But I have read you can test your microwave's permeability by placing your cell phone inside, closing the door, and calling it (obviously do not run the microwave). If it rings, the microwave leaks. If it completely blocks the signal, it doesn't.

3. No it does not.

Sounds like maybe a grounding problem.

10. I assumed it was just the circuit things are plugged into.

My router is on the opposite side of the wall from where the microwave is plugged in. The problem has gotten worse since we got a higher powered microwave, but will have to try your phone in the oven test. (tomorrow when I can get someone to call me)

11. Yeah, can't be a circuit issue

I've got 10 active circuits in the house, and the router is on the opposite end of the house, along with two repeaters, each on different circuits again.

I do have another alternative. When we rebuilt after our fire I took advantage of the gut to run Ethernet along with the electric wiring. So pretty much everywhere there is an electric plug, there's a network jack right beside. I'll have to get a 24 or 48 port switch to connect them all, but that's not all that expensive.

12. Mine seems to be, if that test is valid - no ring heard this morning.

Kind of freaked my son out when I told hem to put my phone in the microwave and call me. LOL

DO NOT turn it on!!!

Yeah, something tells me they won't honor a warranty claim on that.
