The real engine of the economy is the People

making stuff, building stuff, fixing stuff, moving around and buying and selling goods and services in the real world.

That's what creates a dynamic economy and a prosperous middle class.

2. "You didn't build that"

is one of the biggest out of context, doctored, bullshit right-wing memes of all times. The righties easily fool themselves over and over. That's why they are always ripe for the picking.

4. Yeah, Obama rattled on about infrastructure

and teachers and all the rest. Bottom line is a lot of people had access to those, yet only a few built their own businesses. Obama was attempting grab the credit for government as the builder, rather than the enabler of those who are smart enough to build something. Of course he's pandering to a crowd too stupid to build a house of cards, much less something significant. Think of it as the Left's Award for Participating.

5. He was not trying to grab credit for anything.

He was merely pointing out that we all benefit from doing certain things collectively. Building roads and bridges takes a collective effort, and we all have skin in that part of it. If you have a business on a well maintained street appreciate it, and give a little credit to the collective effort that put it there. That's all.

The dumb crowd were the ones that took it out of context.

6. Whenever Obama opens his mouth

he's taking credit, via the government, for something. After all, he's the "I" "me" president.

Lots of people have the advantages provided by government -- education, infrastructure, etc. -- and only a few 'build it." Certainly very few amongst the losers in Obama's audience, proud holders of the "I Participated" Award.

8. He's only the "I", "me" president because right-wing pundits have labeled him as such.

Those same pundits will most likely never say the same about Trump though.

9. One's a fact

the other is an hypothesis. Let's deal with reality.

12. Are you talking about the fact

that Trump constantly feels the need to tell us all how great he is? Is that the reality you are dealing with?

3. if the economy is not working for nearly everyone it needs to be reformed

by election or revolution. 2008 was an opportunity lost to fix a broken economy.

10. You're not from around here, are you?

Here being Indiana.

Crony capitalism is a term describing an economy in which success in business depends on close relationships between business people and government officials. It may be exhibited by favoritism in the distribution of legal permits, government grants, special tax breaks, or other forms of state interventionism. (wiki)

Over $20 million taxpayer money invested in supporting a new Ikea store being put on "vacant" land purchased by the local gov't using eminent domain and then "leased" to the store. Even adding an exit on an interstate and revamping traffic flows all around the area, including adding roundabouts in the connecting streets.

For 250 minimum wage jobs selling stuff that isn't even made in the US.

Meanwhile we have empty buildings within 5 miles of the new store that already have the support structures in place.

11. That screw the public shit has been going on in every state for many decades. And those voting...

...for Clinton-Kaine obviously want that same corrupt crap to continue on for more decades. eminent domain should only be used for those major projects that benefit the whole society....like hospitals, airports, highways, public schools, etc....not dumbass crap like a retail store.
