Automatic payments to replace jobs through automation

I've seen a few threads articles about the concept of the government paying people because automation is taken away employment.

I think the earned income tax credit was a predecessor to this type of logic .

What does everyone think about this topic?

1. Maybe the government could hire an editor for your posts.

2. I would not pay someone if their job were replaced. They should find a new job.

5. I can't imagine a scenario with no jobs. Jobs will continue to change and evolve

but there will always be jobs.

11. There will be jobs, but not as many, and those that remain will require highly specialized skills

Except of course, for some trades jobs that can't be automated easily, such as some plumbers, some electricians, some health care professionals. Automation will cause YUUUGE job losses with the next decade.

in the race against the machine, some are likely to win while many others lose

15. Didn't read the article, just cuz it's out there doesn't make it true.

Automation can and will replace some jobs, new jobs will be created and things will continue to function.

16. I suppose an article from the MIT Technology Review has some credibility..

Perhaps you've never heard of MIT?

17. Of course, but just because it's written, doesn't make it true. As an example there

are often papers, articles with differing ideals, opposite facts, there is generally more than one side to any story.

10. Not my problem, so I don't need a solution

In the end, Nature will provide a solution of needed.

4. It's just one possibility. Ther are serious problems with the concept, but...

no one's come up with a better idea so far.

Automation is forcing us to redefine "work".

7. Over population

has out paced resources and technology has created the need for the culling of those not needed any longer.
Not to worry, liberals have it under control. Thier religion of humanity will save the day.

12. And Nature will provide some of that culling

of those that cannot support their own existence.

After that culling, "Happy Days Are Here Again".

14. Some, but not enough to balance.

Between liberals and the god believers, the concept of humanity has only perpetuated the suffering of those that nature should have taken care of.

In the end, if balance is not implemented, the providers will eventually be just as poor and fucked over as the recipients. At that point liberals can declare that equality has been achieved!
