Bye for a bit

I am being admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery for this damn diverticulitis. The surgeon is telling me it is the worst she has ever seen. My colon is fused to my bladder so extensive reconstruction is required. I will have a temporary colostomy for 3 to 6 months. The next time I post will be from the hospital. Wish me luck.

2. Damn man!

Best of luck to you...I know a few people who have successfully treated this disease with surgery...good to get it done before it becomes an abscess, I almost lost one of my younger employees last year to this disease when his became abscessed...quite frightening stuff.

Keep us in the loop and best wishes as always.

18. Good luck and speedy recovery!!

Had the same thing 6 years ago. Doc said my insides looked like spaghetti when he opened me up. Fistulas everywhere. A couple connected my colon to my bladder and more connected my colon to my small intestines.

The worst part was the tubes to keep my stomach drained for 3-4 days. They reconnected everything after 3 months and I haven't had a problem since.

The good news is that after everything heals you should be able to eat regular foods again and not worry about the pain or problems certain food cause.

Prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

We do live in a better time in terms of medical equipment/devices. Interesting (to a weirdo like me, anyway) history here - https://www.stomaatje.com/history.html

Sucks that you have to go this. You’re a fighter though. And strong. Kick it’s ass.
