Thank you all

Laying in the hospital bed waiting for everything to begin. I'm scared shitless. Thank you all for all of your good wishes.

1. No need to be scared.

Last time I was put under I asked everybody else in the OR why they had masks on and I didn't. One of them said, "That's so you won't be able to identify us later." That was just before I went under. Exit, laughing.

4. your docs are wading into well explored territory, relax the best you can and know it'll be ok....

because it will in time. Too bad you have to endure it, but gastro and structure are highly successful procedures. Keep yer chin up man, we look forward to your return!

8. THIS

While new for you, it is not new for them. They will do what needs to be done and get you back to your life. Do what they tell you, walk early and often Post Op, and move forward to enjoy your life once again.

5. Prayers for your calm now and a successful procedure

I know assurances don't help a lot but as was mentioned I am sure this is routine.

6. Only time I've been in an operating room was when I was four years old and having my tonsils...

… and adenoids removed (not uncommon, back in the mid-1940s if you had lots of colds). I remember the white-coated doc asking me if there was anything I wanted to know, and I saw this big tank with hoses and a face mask next to the bed and asked, "What's that?" Doc said, "Let me show you!" and put the mask on me. It was ether (very common, back in the day).

Pretty much this, loooong time ago...
