Why are more and more doctors leaving and/or not entering the practice?

Who can be looked at as an out of control exponentially growing viral/bacterial infection of the American body.

1. The academic requirements are extremely demanding and the costs to get an MD are mind boggling

Then, once you graduate, unless daddy is rich, you wind up hundreds of thousands in debt with a residency job that pays peanuts.

Not to mention they work residents to death.

It takes tremendous dedication to go through 4 years of college, then 4 years of medical school, then 4 years of residency with probably another year of fellowship, all the while in tremendous debt, being worked to death for little pay, and not quit.

But, if you can endure all that, the payoff can be rewarding with a well-paid job.

If you are in it for the money, an engineering job might be a better selection, especially in the short haul.

I take my hat off to the doctors out there, especially the surgeons.
