Perfect pink nail polish - for me anyway.

China Glaze - "Summer Rain"

I'm a redhead with bluish-green eyes and pinks have always been hit or miss for me. This color works. It's about all I wear anymore, especially on the toes. I just don't have much luck keeping any polish on my fingernails for very long.

2. That's a nice

color.

On my monitor, it looks sort of salmon or coral pink.

I gave up wearing nail polish a long time ago. It just feels weird on my nails...like they're dirty all the time. Even the clear polish makes them feel icky.

Plus, like you, I have a hard time keeping polish on my nails very long. In my world, my fingernails are tools.

Anyway, now that you've found a shade that works, you might want to stock up on it, hopefully it won't go bad. For years I was looking for a lipstick shade that worked for me. I found it. Bought a bunch of tubes, then the manufacturer discontinued it. sigh...back to searching again...

3. It does have a hint of salmon or peach.

I hate my toenails and always have, so I like to paint them pretty, especially in the summer.

4. I forgot to buy the bunch of tubes

I wear lipstick (and no other makeup) only when I have to go somewhere and see somebody who judges people/women by that sort of shit, and have to look the part.

So it takes a while to wear out. By the time those ones did, the shade I'd settled on was long gone.

Two birthdays ago, my mum and I went to the drug store and she got me two lipsticks in a new shade that seems okay. That should last me until I retire.

5. non-toxic of course?

Of course, that doesn't address the toxic disposal problems.

Nail Polish or Poison?

When looking through the products we want to dispose of, we need to make sure that we separate nail polish from the rest of our cosmetic grouping. Both nail polish and polish remover are actually quite hazardous chemicals that can cause serious problems for people, animals and the planet as a whole, and thus need to be treated as such.

In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency has put nail polish and nail polish remover onto their list of hazardous products making it illegal to dispose of them improperly. All cities in the US are required to have a hazardous waste disposal facility, and this is where you’ll need to take your nail polish and polish remover so that it can be properly and professionally disposed of.

I'll bet every one of the millions and millions of people who use the stuff do that.

6. I really do need to find a non-toxic alternative.

I wouldn't even bother if my toenails weren't so awful. When I was 25 and pregnant my OB asked me if I was sure I didn't smoke (I didn't) because he said my feet looked like smokers' feet. Age sure hasn't made them look any better. Some pink polish makes them at least look presentable in the summer.

I don't buy lots of nail polish and what I end up not using I give away or donate. I can't stand a lot of excess, especially when it comes to toiletries. My mother is just the opposite and has drawers full of make-up, nail polish, and lotions and if you peek in her tub you'll see normally about five different kinds of shampoo. She does full makeup every single day - first thing when she gets up.
