"Liberal Prepper"?!?!

Just downloaded this little app for android.

The part about dealing with stressors and survival psychology, and some really simple E&E stuff made for entertaining reading.

The cool part is this will stay on your phone available to you even when offline, as I often am in my travels through the dingy weeds.

1. If you are going to stockpile food, DO NOT tell your neighbors or extended family

otherwise you will be killed if the shit hits the fan.
Keep it to yourself.
Most cans will last 14 years or more if they are not bloated or dented. you do not need to spend a fortune.

most survival incidents are local: Katrina shut everything down, but if you could walk 10 miles, ATMs worked and food was available. 2 weeks worth of food and water will cover 90% of disasters.
Get a generator-especially if you live in snow country.

Politics do not matter. your reasons do not matter. A wise man will set something aside for troubled times.

2. About that generator

Propane or dual fuel if possible. Gas stations may not be open but there are a lot of 20# little white tanks hanging out in the neighbor hood. There are conversion kits out there.

12. Which brings up another point

in a true SHTF situation, be prepared to defend what you have.

4. we had at least 2 weeks food and water, useable water was available a few blocks away

in the mississippi river (i was boiling water collected from my roof. plenty of wood for fuel.)

the first week we were barbecuing for the whole neighborhood.

10 miles might be a stretch. police and military were posted on the bridge and parish line to prevent evacuation.

good news, i had keys to every bar in the neighborhood (employee of the owner). warm beer is tasty and nutritious.

11. The Rocket burns twigs. I like the little Coleman though.

Used to have one that was in a small aluminum capsule. Very neat. Got stolen though.

13. This is the stove you want

http://www.bioliteenergy.com/products/biolite-campstove

Here is their description:

The BioLite CampStove generates usable electricity for charging LED lights, mobile phones, and other personal devices. Burning only wood, the CampStove creates a smokeless campfire that can cook meals and boil water in minutes. Setup is easy, fuel is free, and flames are hyperefficient with performance on par with white gas stoves.

We have two of these. They are worth every penny.
