well, it's a beginning

http://www.foxla.com/news/local-news/proposed-measure-would-make-abortion-first-degree-murder-in-california

Of course it's not going to work because humanity hasn't yet evolved far along enough to decide--as it ultimately must--that a society that murders its youngest and weakest is not a civilized society.

But it's nice to see some are starting to at least consider it.

Proposed measure would make abortion first-degree murder in California

.....If the initiative makes its way to the ballot, it would be extremely difficult to get it passed in California, where polls show a strong majority of the state's voters support abortion rights.....

Well, yeah, that, it won't pass, but it's at least a start. More and more people are starting to consider infanticide not engraved in stone, but rather debatable. It's about time there was a dialogue over it.

1. You want to make birth control illegal?

What kind of stone age thinking is this? Even Muslims allow birth control. FFS.

3. It would equate....

"It would expand the definition of abortion to include some forms of birth control, medical research and in vitro fertilization.

Under the proposal, abortion would also be against the law in cases including rape, incest, or to save the pregnant woman's life."

4. Did you read the linked article?

----

According to the Secretary of State's office, the measure would eliminate "a woman’s state constitutional privacy right to terminate a pregnancy, and to use certain birth control methods."

It would expand the definition of abortion to include some forms of birth control, medical research and in vitro fertilization.

Under the proposal, abortion would also be against the law in cases including rape, incest, or to save the pregnant woman's life.

11. Why stop there?

Male chaperones for women at all times would certainly curtail our insatiable need to get slutty. And maybe take away our ability to drive just in case we try to escape. And what about body cams with 24/7 live streams to our male owners? Ooh. And tracking devices! That'll keep us potential baby killing whores in line.

We can't have those silly Islamists cornering the market on treating women like worthless property now can we?

7. Even If The Measure Gets On The Ballot,

The voters will overwhelmingly reject it.

And if it should pass, a judge in California will overturn it.

Probably; this is California after all, the la-la land of decadence and hedonism.

However, the reason I posted this was because finally at long last there's starting to be a debate over abortion.

For about forty years, there's been no discussion of the issue from the abortion enthusiasts; abortion's the law of the land, abortion's engraved in granite, abortion's forever.

Uh, no.

Nothing in human affairs is final, settled forever and ever.

Society evolves over time; I can very well see where sooner or later--although not in my own lifetime--society will come to the realization that it's not a good thing to murder innocents.

The abortion enthusiasts aren't going to get away with acting this is a settled matter, settled forever and ever, to the end of Time. Tough shit; it's about time they justified themselves.

8. It's amazing that conservatives want to bring social issues back into the mix

They continually lose on these. Remember 2012 when so hick lawmaker from Missouri started talking about the different kinds of rape and the joys of pregnancy by rape? That worked out well.

The Dems, in their immense hubris, did not take the opportunity during the 2016 VP debate to attack Pence on social issues, choosing instead to focus on Trump's foibles. Bad move.

Opinions about abortion in the States have held pretty steady for decades. However, what's most important is that Independents favour legal abortion in all or most cases. Give it up, guys
