1. Have been to Alabama three times, all three times to Waterloo.

Good flathead fishing and friendly folks, gets my vote.

2. sure

The beach towns-Orange Beach, Fairhope, Magnolia Springs, Spanish Fort-are great if you have money...Good houses are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....They combined Orange Beach with Gulf Shores though.. The zoo there is in GS...and it is a GREAT zoo.

Mentone-been once...not impressed...there is NOTHING to do there....

Mooresville-not really a town...It's off of I565 between Decatur and Madison...no shops, maybe a gas station...You will have to travel about 20 minutes to get groceries, etc. 6 houses and a post office...that's it...

Muscle Shoals-It's a nice town.

Hartselle-overcrowded small, cliquey town...It has seen a population surge as people leave Huntsville and Madison for a cheaper lifestyle. It's right by I65, so a commute to either Hsv or Birmingham is doable. Not a high crime area, but lots of meth heads and drunks...They do have a great school, but recruit kids with football talent from nearby school systems so that they will have a great football team(I know this for a fact)....

Decatur-big NOPE...Lots of crime there, I don't care what the guy says...It's a town that is struggling..It cannot compete with Huntsville/Madison...I would not live there...

Tuscumbia...don't know a lot about it although I have relatives that live there.

I live near Decatur and Hartselle, so I know more about those areas...

If I had my druthers, I would live near the beach...maybe in Elberta or Daphne....Daphne is a cute little town, but once again, you have to have money...

4. Tsk tsk ...

Come on now .... Mentone is where you get in touch with nature ... or so friends of mine with cabins there always say. I have family in the Ft Payne area, which is just south, but I never go any further than LRC entrance, or maybe desoto falls, so I have technically never been to Mentone but that area is one big scenery commute. I live on the extreme south end 30 miles from the florida line in Covington County basically the halfway point between Mobile and Dothan. I havent seen that area since 08 but nothing has really changed since I first seen it in 85 so ...

Anything beach town or Mobile area related though ... yes you have to have $$$ and plenty of it.

5. I'm not a woodsy person. Put me in a chair at the beach....

I have land, so I go into my woods to see nature...lol ...although the water falls at Desoto Falls are cool...If you like that kind of stuff, the next time you are in N. Alabama, you should try this place:

http://www.dismalscanyon.com/

This is one of the coolest places ever...
