News of the day

Tomorrow, we begin our rotation toward summer. Despite the overcast sky I am thinking about the approach of spring as I sit here anticipating the arrival of the California Scientific windshield I ordered for my Yamaha Tracer. USPS sent me a text this morning advising me it is on their truck, out for delivery today.

1. The USPS letter carrier did not deliver my new shield.

It was delivered later in the day in a separate truck, I presume. The box in which it arrived is sturdy and undamaged unlike the crushed box in which my X-Max Puig shield arrived from France.

I bought the large CalSci shield for my Tracer. As expected, the edge reflects precision laser cutting, but it is not polished like the Yamaha product. It is a couple of inches taller and wider too which are my primary reasons for purchasing their shield. I expect this shield to greatly reduce wind noise and head buffeting at highway speeds.

There are a few very small blemishes (bubbles) that are all but invisible except at just the right angle and lighting. I would prefer the lower half of the shield to be a little wider and another inch or two of height would also be welcome for fine tuning the height with the bike's sliding frame mount. Overall, however, I am pleased with the product.
