1. I hope they kept that person in the hospital overnight. It makes a difference.

2. Maybe

IIRC what you described they may cover it, but their payment schedule may not cover all of it.

4. Kaiser is my supplemental

They've been pretty solid so far. I googled and medicare does cover this with justification. It's an amazing system. Going through it was a highly compressed tour of what's best about our health care system. It was process driven all the way and the level of competence at every stage was truly impressive. All health care pros can be proud of what they've wrought.

5. This last summer my husband had a very nasty farm accident and had to be flown 85 miles

to a hospital. We'd bought that extra insurance for medical helicopter rides, thankfully. We ended up with very little out of pocket for his big adventure. He was saying something about what that helicopter ride would have cost us would have been a down payment on a brand new helicopter. So more than $26,000 I think.

How far did they have to haul you? What happened, accident or illness? Are you better?

7. About 75 miles I guess

I had a heart attack. Snowpocalypes was blowing up. the roads were clogged. There was essentially no other way to get me off the island. I'm fine now. They installed a pacemaker so if I meet Dick Cheney in Hell there's a surefire conversation starter.

8. It's about the same distance my husband flew then.

I didn't consider (in my PP) they wouldn't have followed the roads but cut cross country, even though we flew that route a lot in a Cessna.

My husband was crushed and sustained 7 broken ribs among other injuries. That's what happens when you leave the hand brake off a tractor on a hill.

Glad you recovered.

9. I left the hand break off a 2.5 ton truck once

6. I'm glad you picked the correct policy

Basic medicare won't cover that.

We looked at medicare when we turned 65, 6 policies required to get the care we wanted $1,000 a month in premiums.

We opted to go with a private policy.
