Back in September, I started dieting and going to the gym again. Just weighed myself tonight, and..

I'm down to 168 from 220. Size 36's are now down to size 32's, and large-size shirts have been replaced by small-size shirts. An hour a day at the gym on the way home from work, half hour with a personal trainer, and cutting table salt, soda, beer, and fast food completely out of my diet.

Not doing it necessarily to brag (though I am a little bit), but just wanted to let people know if you're wanting to do the same, you absolutely can!

3. Congrats man.

Ive found the hardest part is how it wears you down.
once the excitement of watching the pounds go away disappears and you are on the maintenance road, the temptations get bigger, and you get worn down from the fight. At least this is how it's been for me. I call myself a skinny fat guy now... because at heart, I'll probably always fight the temptations, I love food as much as the next guy.
Be ready for this and have a plan. Its a big accomplishment so you have to be ready for that battle that never ends. I went from 240-something down to 180... I teeter between 180 and 190 now, and it's a fight sometimes.

8. Couldn't agree more with this.

There are lots of days I want to go through a McDonald's drive through and get a pack of nuggets and fries for old time's sake, and there are definitely days I've slipped when it comes to pizza.

"Skinny fat guy" is definitely the perfect way to put it. Keeps you humble and in mind of the progress you've made, and the fear of losing it all by getting complacent.

4. good job, bud!

amazing what cutting soda alone can do for ya.

i love these types of stories because i can relate. drinking, smoking and poor eating really took a toll on me after i got out the army. then after a few years i started pt again and am honestly in better shape now.

9. I started ballooning when I got out of the service myself.

Guess I got too caught up in the freedom of not having to pass PT tests anymore and let myself get out of control.

Ironically enough, that test standard is what I'm using for a goal now. All I have left to do is quit this blasted smoking.

11. oof..good luck. it is so freakin hard.

i am sure you have heard you wanna hear on that. all i can say is, if you go with vaping, it doesn’t feel nearly as satisfying at first. quite empty, in fact. but it helped get by my triggers. which were long drives and that sweet moment in a movie when a person lights it and takes a drag....sooooooo sexy.

16. You form a new normal.

Now I can't think of anything but a vape with my morning coffee.

15. You should brag and brag again.

It's hard and you've persevered. You have every right to be proud of yourself. I'm going to the gym 3 times a week and I hate it.
