Heads up y'all travelers

If you're traveling on 1-40 through Haywood County, NC you're going to be rerouted. A rockslide has again blocked both directions of travel for the unforeseeable future. Luckily no one was injured when it came down, but it's a long detour in either direction.

3. This happens all too frequently here.

I've driven I40 for over 30 years and can't count the times I've been rerouted around that area. I was nearby when one of the tunnels collapsed. Miles upon miles of backup. Those of us towards the front got out of our vehicles and pieced together picnics. There was nothing else we could do for several hours.

7. Yes. That's a friggin' HUGE boulder.

Imagine having that hit you while you're tooling along the interstate.

5. that sucks

is this due to rain? Or just tunnels collapsing? I know that there was a mudslide up near Knoxville the other day and it took out a major roadway...

6. The state says the

unrelenting rain played a part. This stretch has been plagued with slides since it opened. It took almost 20 years to cut through the bedrock to open that 20 mile section.

Trump's fault.
