1. Why?

What is wrong with it? Maybe I could help you fix it.

and the return air ducts at too small for the furnace and its having to work harder.

13. I have experience repairing boilers

not forced air. Get at least 3 different estimates and do your research. Plenty of info and reviews online. Good luck.

3. I had my forced air natural gas furnace replace last year.

They charged $1500. I shopped around and got quotes from $1300 to $7000. I recommend calling to get multiple quotes. Angieslist can be a good resource.

Much will depend on the type of fuel source (natural gas, hot water, fuel oil), efficiency, sound proofing, ease of access, location, etc.

4. Thats not a bad price for a heating only furnace, assuming around 75k btu heating.

I just paid $5800 for a packaged 75k btu gas heater but it also includes 36k btu cooling.

8. $3800..in Jersey... sounds cheap...Is it Oil fired or utility supplied NG?

Nevermind..I just saw...it's NG per a post above.

$3800 sounds low in Jersey.....new plenums, take offs...

Probably would be $ 6,000 in 2019.
