I am sick of the weather

Rain rain and more rain. Tornadoes. We were at the movies today and had to get in the hall because of a tornado warning.

High winds here now. I heard a tree pop in the woods behind the house. Ground is saturated and the winds are picking up. Flooding everywhere.

Round two in a couple of hours.

Y’all stay safe tonight.

2. Thank you

The tornado at the movie freaked my boy out. It never touched down though. We went to the movies early because we knew the weather was coming later, but this one swooped in. My sister had a river in her yard. A lot of flash flooding. We’ve have so much rain. In the month of February, we got about 10-12 inches of rain. Our yard is a sponge. Tomorrow will be fine and then this is supposed to pick up again on Thursday or so.

3. It is getting pretty damned old...

We got torrential rains again today, everything has turned to slop and mud, and now the winds are picking up.
Geez... what a rotten winter. Thank God it's almost over.

5. For sure

March is going to be like this all month I think. Maybe April as well. The dams are doing 2 million gallons a second and we are still high. Brad Travis said we could get 3-6 inches of rain between today and next weekend. We probably got 2 or 3 today.

8. We're fortunate not

to have had tornado activity, just some high winds and almost constant rain. There've been 5 landslides so far in my county; one huge one that closed I-40. About 3 years ago a house further up the mountain from us was literally split in two by a slide. Naturally, slide insurance is not available in WNC.

Underground springs are popping up all over our land. One on the border of our land and a neighbor is actually rushing and I can hear it from the back deck. I had to dig out a trench last week for it to take a path to the road. I'm getting more and more nervous about a slide on our land.

10. me too!!!!

I heat mostly with wood in my cottage, and supplement what we cut and split with a cord delivered. Everything has been damp, from all of the rain. The river is high and muddy.

Im gearing up for Spring kayaking/fishing and things aren't looking great yet.
