And now for something completely different

I'm taking a small break from Mueller.

Math wins in the end. I've been arguing with my wife for a month now, that her pay has not gone down.

In our simple example let.s say Mrs. Def_con makes $20 an hour and gets a shift differential of $2 an hour.

The idiots in HR sent out a letter in January saying your base compensation is going up by 2%, but your shift differential is going down by 5%. So everybody at work decided their pay was going down by 3%.

Dumb ole me popped up and said, no your total pay is up, it's a weighted average (I should never have said that).

I've spent the last month trying to explain that one but it didn't help.

She finally had her meeting with HR and they redid her comp form, they stopped using percentages and listed the amount Base pay up. shift differential down, total comp up.

Now since she can see what a weighted average is she gets it.

It's always communication, if HR had originally just listed the dollar amounts, she would have understood from the get go.
