Older illegal toilets

Some number of years ago, I foolishly agreed to let the city put in a new water saving toilet. Great deal they did the installation for free, and discounted the toilet by 25%.

Water saving my ass, you have to flush it at least 3 times to get rid of the waste. And once a week I have to snake it. Fuck it, I'm gonna replace it with an older toilet that works if I can find one.

Anyone know how to obtain such a rare and mythical beast?

Thanks.

1. You can get them in Mexico, used to be Canada as well...

But I think they went to limited flushes as well.

Also home salvage places have older tanks and commodes..

I have a commercial valve in the 2 main toilets in my house.. Just cuz I thought it was cool. Had to bribe my plumber though.

3. Just and idea.

Call plumbing or house contractors who redo bathrooms.

And the there's always Craig's List.

4. you have 2 options really...

First, there is a market for them in the US. They are used, of course, and as gross as that may sound, porcelain is the material used for good reason. It can be cleaned up and sterilized like new for the most part, just toss out all the hardware and rebuild it.
The other option is what I did, and that is the pressurized flush systems. Those work fantastic, but come with a heavy price: they are loud as hell. No normally an issue, but in the middle of the night it tends to piss off anyone who is asleep.
If you go with option 2, make sure to get a good one. Anything using the "Flush Mate" brand systems is pretty dang good. I don't know if you can get that at the home stores or not as I normally get all things like that from an actual plumbing supply house. I seriously regret throwing out the old toilets when we did the remodels in our bathrooms.

5. I want an old washing machine.

Mine saves lots of water but doesn't get the clothes clean.

13. We had pretty good luck

going with a front loading machine, the newer top loaders don't get the clothes as clean.

Also we add a cup of vinegar, that seems to do the trick.

BTW, if you go with a front loader, leave the door open after using.

14. My friends with front loaders

Have mold problems they say. It’s an ongoing issue too.

15. Tis true

It has to dry between loads, hence leave the door open. Right now it's just me and the wife, so it only runs once or twice a week. Probably wouldn't work real well for an active family with teens.

6. Lowes or Home Depot

The manufacturers have gotten them to be much better these days.

While you are at it, consider getting one of the taller models. Much easier for most people to get up and down, especially as they age.

12. Check reviews, I assume some are better than others

House we are in now has ancient ones. We have had to rebuild both of them. My place in Cal had the taller water efficient ones that worked well.

7. "..city put in a new water saving toilet.." There lies the problem. Municipalities go cheap

When I was still in the business...I constantly got calls after a city installed shitter wouldn't "flush".
They bought junk in bulk. There are good water savers that work well.
Kohler, American Standard make 'em.

I just put in an AS Colony($149.00 at True Value) for my brother...he's a tightwad....that will flush a small dog
