McFecal matter on touchscreens

https://www.kwch.com/content/news/Survey-finds-fecal-matter-on-every-McDonalds-touchscreen-it-tested-507621321.html

Mmmmmmmm, makes me want to go to McDonalds.

Now of course I expect them to blow it off and say something like "these types of things have always been there, every doorknob you touch, every faucet handle or touchscreen".

While this is true, the real question is "how often do your slacker employees clean the screens?" (probably next to never). Same thing with the shake machine, it's supposed to be torn down and cleaned every night, SUPPOSED to, but now that more and more McDonalds are open 24 hours you can't count on it (cough) listeria outbreak incoming (couch cough).

I go by "oil smell" these days IF I go to fast food at all, you can tell when it hasn't been changed in a while. And if it hasn't been changed in a while you know it hasn't been cleaned either, just like the other cooking items and (worse) refrigerators where spills happen, then no cleanup followed by "crustification" (that's too much work, if they want that done too they'd better just give us the $15).

I suppose going forward it might be a good idea to bring your own disinfectant with you and do the job they wont, nothing survives Formula 409.

1. Everything that people touch has fecal matter on it. That;'s why you need to wash your hands.

3. And snot,

blood, other yuck. I carry wipes to clean grocery carts (too many times the provided dispenser is empty), gas pump handles, etc.

I recall a story I read once about a teacher who smelled feces and lined up her students to check their hands. As the story goes she discovered poop under her own inch long fake nails. Even if this particular event didn't occur as told I can see it happening very easily.

4. yesssss

I don;t open doors to stores and such with my bare hands. I use the hem of my shirt....

In my state, the health dept doesn't make servers have short fingernails. I've asked why and was told that since they dont have direct contact in the prep of food, they can have long fingernails. It's disgusting to have someone bring my food to my table with inch long claws. I won't eat at places that allow that.

7. I always feel filthy

after being out in public, so first thing upon getting home is a good handwashing.

Also, while it's always good to wash your hands after using any restroom, but especially a public one, it's pretty much pointless if you're washing and then touching the dirty door handle that someone else touched after not washing theirs. So I wash and use a paper towel to turn off the faucet, then dry with a clean sheet, then one more sheet to open the door.

Other things people touch that have nasty bacteria on them would be boxes or packages in a store where someone might have picked it up to look at it and set it back down again.

And just about anywhere else. Kids are out there touching stuff after having their hands down their underwear or fingers in their noses.

I hate to be a crazy germaphobe person, but.....yech

2. A Coworker told me his wife used to work fast food

If the “shake machine” is down a LOT, there’s cleaning problems

For what it’s worth, the Shake Machine at Chik-Fil-a is NEVER down (in my experience)

6. We can afford to eat out,

but don't do it very often, as too many people are just nasty.
