Did my good deed over the weekend

My elderly in-laws (they're in their mid 80's) were in DESPERATE need for a vehicle. They have a 20 something year old Dakota pickup with a serious case of the rot. They had asked me to take them car shopping. We drove over to Ohio yesterday and picked them up to go look at an older, but really good condition Subaru Impreza. He was really worried because he had secured a small amount of financing. It really was not enough to get much of a car. They had no idea about the price of this car. After the test drive they were both really impressed. The car is in really good shape and really loaded.

We went in to the office afterward and I asked him if he wanted this car. He said yes, but he knew it was out of his range. I pulled the salesman aside for a few moments, ostensibly to negotiate for him. We did arrive at a price, at which point, little to their knowledge I pulled out my checkbook and bought the car for them. They were in tears.

We had an ulterior motive. It has been over a year since they felt confident in their truck enough to come visit. Now they can load up the greyhound and come to our place every now and then.

4. With a good economy and a good stock market...

We can do things that matter for people we care about.

That’s so sweet of you.

6. I, we, also take care of inlaws. I'm proud of you.

We have been successful in life and now are able to take care of those we love. To my kids, I paid for your educations and you are on your own.

8. Hey! Our "elders" take care of us when we are little,

we can take care of them when they are old.

Since I'm almost 70 (in January).
Still work out 5 days a week, so I should not rust out too soon!
