F-ing insurance and doctor's paperwork
I won't get into all the details, but my surgery was cancelled this morning due to some damned paperwork delay over the holiday. I am beyond livid. I was actually in the pre-op room in that horrific gown before they tole me to go home.
Apparently everything was in place for the temporary LED cathertizeration (so nothing wrong gets cut, it's tight in there) but not the actual colostomy reversal. Thank god they caught it, I could have been there with lightsticks jammed up my you know what with no primary surgeon. No one bothered to call me. I just spent all weekend "prepping" for nothing. Just spent all day making really angry calls. Hopefully will have this resolved by tomorrow. If not I'm switching insurance. At least right now that will only make for a three week delay. Why in the hell can't I just buy health insurance like car or homeowners?

1. I'm so sorry to hear this.
I don't want to get revved up by telling you my horrific experience
in June. I'm still not over it. I hope your resolution comes tomorrow. Good luck. |

2. In general you can
You can still buy private insurance (Not Obamacare).

8. and btw, hope this turns out ok
this is obviously medically necessary and obviously should be covered by every insurance company worthy of the name
my guess, some scumbag at the company wants to put off the expense until after the annual report. |

9. Here's the bottom line
When this originally arose we bought what we had to to keep me alive. It was never intended to be permanent, just a stopgap measure to get us through. We knew it was shitty at the time, but it is what it is. Now that we are in the enrollment period, we have a few new options. There isn't a lot of choice here, but at least there are a few.
It will mean pushing this back a few weeks, but I can live with that so long as I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Being self employed seriously limits your options. Republican or Democrat really does not matter, government really does not like the small or individual entrepreneur. They throw so many roadblocks in the way it's ridiculous. |
