People don't become atheists,

They go back to being atheists.

Truth.

3. You may think so

But I've always been an atheist. (Not the rabid kind, I've just never believed in a deity.)

4. everyone was an atheist

Until they were told to believe in a deity.
That's why it's true that you don't become one.
You have always been one, or you go back to being one.

5. I am not a god beleiver, however.

If one is a atheist until they are brain washed to beleive in a deity then how could they disbelieve in somthing they knew nothing of? Atheism by definition is a person who disbelieves in the existence of gods so therefore one would not have disbelieved in somthing they knew nothing of before being told.

8. right.

How can you believe in something you've never heard of.
The lack of belief was always there.
Atheism is a lack of belief in deities.
One could say it doesn't mean you are atheist if you've never heard of it, but in reality, you are atheist if you've never heard of it.
There are gods I've never heard of and I lack belief in them too.

6. Or they return to the old days of Odin, Freya, and Thor.

The traditional European pagan beliefs have some seriously different underpinnings that the Abrahamic ones. I was surprised when I looked into it.

7. Young children believe in all sorts of irrational explanations for things

Being afraid of the dark is the beginning of religion.

9. sure.. the boogeyman

And shit like that.. but they are told of the boogeyman. Fear of the unknown is built into us as a survival tool from when we first started walking upright.

12. yes. you can go back to being

A Christian if you left and went back.
Same as you can quit your job as a plumber and go back to being a plumber.
The point was that atheism is automatic, the default position in all of us.
Depending on where you were born determines which religious position will be forced on you. You just happen to have been taught christianity, so that's what you believe.
It's all fake and made up, but you can believe whatever you want, regardless of how much we now know about the world and evidence that God and jesus do not exist and do not need to have existed for any of us to exist.
