Another thing believers don't seem to understand is that the authors of the gospels already knew of the prophecies in regards to the Messiah.
He briefly touched on that.
It's easy to make prophecies seem fulfilled if you are writing about them after the fact.

I like how they back pedal too. They'll say it's not a problem with translations, Mary was indeed a virgin. Then they'll say the verses that say the child will be named Immanuel are mistranslated and that it wasn't meant to be his actual name, but the meaning of the word instead. The authors couldn't fix that to make the prophecy seem fulfilled because we'll, his fuckin name was Jesus, not Immanuel. So believers have to work around that. The perfect word of.god, not.
They use whatever works to continue their delusional beliefs in virgin births, talking snakes and donkeys, floods and whatever other impossibilities pop up in their little books.

might be the exact phrase to describe what is wrong worg the literal truth of scripture.
