1. You can only be born once.

Jesus doesn't know what he's talking about.
That or he likes changing the meanings of words. Which makes sense. That's what a lot of his followers have to do to make sense of his ramblings.

4. It's spiritual rebirth.

I'm also a fan of Oriental ancestor worship. I learned a lot about that, stuff about Confucianism, Taoism. We had to recite the wisdoms as we worked out and tried to do our forms.

Did I believe a revered ancestor would somehow aid me in combat? No.

Do I believe the One True God would aid me? Yes.

5. Yeah, but he doesn't say that.

Like I said.
He just changes the meaning of words.
We are already born with the spirit.
Once is enough.

6. Sure I get what you are saying.

It's a subjective idea full of metaphoric representation. It's wide open to interpretation and ridicule.

The Bible says God "draws," us. We don't draw Him. Notice, Prophets in the Bible were, generally, reluctant. Moses had to be dragged back to Egypt after being smacked around by miracles. Jonah refused to go to Nineveh so he was consumed by a whale and barfed up on a beach near Nineveh.

Paul was into heavy persecution of Christians when he was blinded.

Beware of your scorn and interest in this topic. You too could be "drawn," and conscripted to go on a dodgy mission of God.

Although a nice relaxing weekend in a whales stomach, away from everything might be just what I need.

I hereby pray to God, through his son Jesus to stick me in a whales stomach for a couple of days.

Fingers crossed.

He probably hates God for making him a miserable SOB who has a terrible life.

If I was him with his attitude I would hate God too for making me such an asshole.

Thank God I am not.

I note you do not start threads mocking leprechauns.

I am quite familiar with you antipatheists. You pretend not to hate God but you are just pissed God didn't treat you like you wanted.

In the end, you will become nothing. Same as you are now.

20. God is probably very annoyed by petty requests.

What I mean by that is some folks pray too much. God is, after all, battling billions of demons in another dimension. He's busy, he's got his hands full, and some guy is praying for a miracle cure for his pickup truck on the 405. Perhaps he should maintenance his truck and stop bothering the big fella with trivialities.

On the other hand, I've seen people in peril send up their sincere prayers and have them answered.

32. Actually no. I am always fascinated with conservatives who laugh at Liberals as being

emotion-driven in their arguments (and rightly so in many instances) while using similar emotion-driven screeds in their arguments around a 2000 year old collection of fairy tales composed by primitive goat herders and slickster used car salesmen.

What I'm wondering about here is why, why would two posters deliberately take a dump in the threads where a sincere Christian is posting scripture? Is there a reason other than hate?

It is Nolidad's thread and I've posted way too much here. Are you two part of a tag team?

At any rate, I'm going to get catatonically stoned before I trudge off to my crap cashier second job.

Should no one post in Nolidad’s threads? I don’t think he would like that. Should only those people who agree with him post in his threads? That would seem an odd requirement for a a message board. Should only posters who agree with Shoe post in his threads? Or is religion (read Christianity) special?

"Should only those people who agree with him post in his threads?"

'Course not. No one has suggested that. There is a difference, however, between disagreeing with the words a Poster writes and ridiculing the Poster himself.

25. That's why I brought Eastern Spiritualism into this.

It seems hypocritical to have a dojo which teaches many Eastern spiritual things while slamming other spiritual beliefs.

Eastern martial arts are full of spiritual beliefs. What you are saying to us is to believe in unseen things, the exact same thing you reject in Christianity.

As a side note, I was in Black Belt magazine in 1979. They came to our studio and did a layout about us. They were able to actually prove, through kinetic photography, that the board breaks before the fist hits it. The board is broken BY YOUR MIND.

27. I don't know!

But in kinetic photo after photo, the boards start to crack before the fist, palm heel, kick hits the boards. These are 1/1000th of a second photos.

They used science to prove that something occurs that is yet, unexplainable.

Ever go in strobe light and look at your shadow as you move around. It's never in the same place or position as you are when the light flashes.
If this camera was taking snapshots every millisecond I. E. 1000 pics per second, in 1979, that could be your rxplanation right there.
It in absolutely no way suggests that the mind has anything to do with it.
People see it the way they want to see it.

33. Ki has been debunked over and over again.

Every time someone tries to use ki in a controlled experiment they fail, horribly, every time.
I've seen many videos of ki masters getting their asses kicked when they try to use ki in a real situation. It's power of suggestion. Nobody can break a board without touching it. It has never happened in in a controlled environment. Ever.
If ki was a a real force it could be measured, like every other force.

37. My dojo, well the wife, teaches kyokoshinkai.

Nothing fake about it. You wont call it woo after you get a kick in the face when sparring. She also teaches yoga and cardiovascular fitness. We also have a medium sized gym.
I studied martial arts a long time ago, several different types but I didn't have the determination to keep them up. I liked kickboxing better.
My wife is going for her 4th dan this summer.

Ki is absolutely woo.
You can believe in ki all you want. Just don't try it in a fight or you'll be sorry.
