6. I think she could have made her point more

effective without using the vulgarity. Do people feel they MUST use vulgarity or crude language to get attention for their statements? It certainly seems so here from some quarters.

7. Some do.

But I think what happened here is she already made up her mind to quit and didn't care about the consequences. Not sure how well she thought the long time ones, since she will probably never be able to get a job as an anchor again. Not to mention the fines , if she was under contract.

10. It's not so much the job consequences

that bothers me, rather the fact that she must have thought that the use of the crude language was somehow adding effectiveness to her statement. Or that it is just so ingrained that she didn't even think about it. Either way, it saddens me.

I'm old. I grew up in the 50's and early 60's, and even though we would be considered upper lower or lower middle class, the people around me never used crude language beyond an occasional "hell" or "damn" and that would get an eye roll. My parents, my friends, my friend's parents, never uttered the F-bomb. I may not have even heard it until college.

I spent a 40 year career with the military. Back in the 70's and 80's you would never hear such language in the Officer's Club, or the person would be ejected. Nowadays, it's even hard to actually find an Officer's Club on a military base. They have degraded to "All Ranks" Clubs. It is an entirely different atmosphere. I find that sad, and maybe worthy of a separate post.

I guess I just miss the old days.

8. The FCC

should hold her and her pot-head group responsible for all fines.

9. They will.

FCC never fails to do so.. Sometimes more than necessary, but it's what they do.

14. Do they hold media propagandists accountable for all the lies they tell? They would be rich

if they fined every MSM 'news' person who has lied to the American people on important issues.

Until that happens, I'm not all that upset over someone telling the truth with a little colorful language.

15. I don't care what Maddow says

This type of "colorful language" is restricted on our airwaves and this woman, not the station, should be held responsible for her actions.

16. Well, that is my point, that we are more 'outraged' over a few words than over

the serious lies told to the people by Fox and CNN et al that got this country into a devastating war.

Shows you what kind of values we have.

Getting people killed by telling lies, no problem. Tell the truth with a few colorful words? OMG! OMG!
