1. Pacific Ocean Park was great, we went there in 1967, right before it "died"

One of my buddies lost his glasses on the giant roller coaster they had there
We were walking around for nearly an hour looking for them after we got off the ride...never found them

But my favorite all-time amusement park was The Pike in Long Beach

My best friend & I drove down to LA from San Francisco in 1963, and we got to visit The Pike one cold weekday night

It was truly awesome!

i had never before seen anything like it....that double-track roller coaster, the ride must have lasted 6 or 7 minutes,
unlike the roller coaster we were used to in Santa Cruz, which lasted 58 seconds

And the bumper cars, man they were something else, the area they were in was about 5 times the size of the bumper cars in Santa Cruz, and instead of lasting 2 minutes or so, the guy let us ride for almost 15 minutes (because there were so few people there that night ....mostly sailors)

I had never before seen a real fortune teller, and they had all those freak shows too

The Pike...man, I'll never forget that visit to the Pike.

I guess I'd pick Santa Monica over Coney island

2. Being from NYC never went to Palisades Park, which is my one true regret.

It was on the NJ part near the GWB but that closed 40? years ago now
Jersey? We never went to Jersey back then, when we had the beaches of NY and Long Island

Had the world's larges salt water pool
and Cousin Brucie did a weekly show with loads of stars singing

Freddy Boom Boom Cannon had a song 'Palasades Park" and there also the more famous commercial

here are both, commercial first, then song
